About
University of Bristol
Ranked 51st in the world and 9th in the UK by the QS World University rankings 2019, the University of Bristol is internationally recognised for providing students with world-class degrees that prepare them for the world of work. With 23,000 students from more than 150 different countries, international students will become part of a global campus.
Being the second most-targeted university by top UK employers (High Fliers Research 2019) means students leave the institution feeling confident of getting a job at a reputable company. Bristol is also ranked sixth in the country for graduate employability (QS Graduate Employability Rankings 2018), and alumni from the institution are among the highest paid graduates in the UK.
With continual investment in new facilities, students have access to innovative, state-of-the-art technology and resources. The institution has nine libraries, outstanding sports facilities including a swimming pool and indoor sports centre, and four study centres, including Beacon House – a large central hub with flexible study spaces in the heart of the city and campus.
The University of Bristol takes great pride in its research, working to provide innovative solutions to some of the toughest issues facing our society. From climate change to human rights, Bristol is doing everything it can to make a difference to the world as we know it. The University was ranked in the top five in the UK for research in the Times Higher Education analysis of the Research Excellence Framework 2014.
There is lots to do away from lectures, too. The city of Bristol was named the number one place to live in the UK in 2017 (Sunday Times), the active Students’ Union runs hundreds of clubs and societies, and the University was placed in the top ten for team sports in 2017-18 in the inter-university league, BUCS.

The University continually invests in its buildings, resources and technology to ensure students get the very best student experience. On campus, all students have access to 24-hour libraries, extensive IT spaces and purpose-built study centres.

Sports and activities
The University’s extensive on-campus sports facilities include a fully equipped gym, large sports hall and swimming pool. The off-campus sports complex offers grass and artificial pitches, an Olympic weightlifting gym and an indoor tennis centre.
Bristol students can join more than 70 sports clubs or compete in inter-university leagues. Student athletes can join the Performance Sport programme, which helps them combine a sporting career with academic study.
There are also plenty of opportunities to play sport for fun and keep fit, in the Intramural Programme or by taking part in low-cost, beginner-friendly classes.
Accommodation
All new first-year international undergraduates and postgraduates are guaranteed a place in University accommodation (subject to conditions).
More than 6,500 places are available for students across three locations. There is accommodation to suit all tastes, from shared Georgian townhouses to large, modern residences right in the city centre.
Every residence provides internet, 24-hour security and pastoral support, including a network of senior students who support residential life and wellbeing. Most residences have a common room, and many have study rooms, launderette and bike storage.
