About
Teesside University, Middlesbrough
In the heart of the multicultural town of Middlesbrough, Teesside University boasts a state-of-the-art campus with excellent facilities. The university prides itself on wellbeing and student satisfaction, and students can take part in a range of social activities including festivals, sports, clubs and events which help create the friendly and happy atmosphere on campus.
With continuing investment in new buildings over the next few years, students studying a range of specialist subjects benefit from world-class equipment. With a specialism in animation, Teesside is ranked in the top 20 list of international animation schools (Animation Career Review 2018). 100 international animation schools included in the ranking. The exciting National Horizons Centre development due to be completed in spring 2019 also puts Teesside University at the heart of exciting UK-wide industry developments in bio-based industries.
Based in Middlesbrough, students can explore the beautiful surrounding countryside including the North York Moors and the Yorkshire Dales, as well as cultural offerings like the MIMA gallery, part of the university, and the Dorman Museum. The campus has excellent sports facilities including a climbing wall and gym, but there’s also the local Albert Park, Hemlington Lake and Middlesbrough Sports Village, which helps Teesside University put wellbeing at the heart of student welfare.
With courses combining practical skills and hands on experience with excellent teaching (rated Silver by the new Teaching Excellence Framework), students are well prepared to convert their degree into the career they’re looking for.
In the centre of campus is the Students’ Union, where students can meet, join clubs and social activities, and enjoy the bar and nightclub on-site. These social spaces were accredited gold in the 2017 Best Bar None awards (recognising exceptional staff training and responsible practices in our licensed trade).
