Infectious diseases remain major problems worldwide for people and animals. In IGH we study a wide range of important infectious diseases of people and animals, including zoonotic diseases that transmit between animals and people. Our work occurs in UK, Europe, Africa and Asia. Overview The University of Liverpool’s Institute of Infection and Global Health was established to bring together leading medical, veterinary and basic science researchers from across the Faculty of Health and Life Sciences. Infection and Global Health related research in humans includes basic, clinical and epidemiological studies of a range of neurological, gastrointestinal, respiratory, vector-borne and sexually-transmitted infections of adults and children. Infection and Global Health related in animals takes place predominantly at the Leahurst campus, where multidisciplinary staff, including clinically-qualified veterinary and medical researchers, statisticians, mathematicians and basic scientists, work together to address a range of issues. These include the investigation of zoonotic pathogens; the spread of antimicrobial resistance; understanding human behaviour as a driver of disease transmission; control and prevention of major infectious diseases of farmed and companion animals; and the influence of the environment and climate on the transmission of disease.

For international students

Students will normally have a minimum of a 2:1 class honours degree in a relevant biological science subject, or an equivalent medical, veterinary or dental qualification. Applicants are selected on the basis of their curriculum vitae, qualifications and referees’ reports, together with their perceived ability to complete the programme successfully and on the value of the training offered to their subsequent career plans. IELTS Academic requirement - SELT and non-SELT: Overall 6.5 no band below 5.5. TOEFL iBT requirement: Minimum 88 overall with L 17 W 17 R 17 and S 19.

Health Data Science Scholarships

Up to a maximum amount of £10,850.

How to applay

Once you have secured a place on the MSc Health Data Science at the University of Liverpool, submit your CV, and a brief supporting statement (no longer than 750 words), which should outline (1) why you should receive a scholarship to study on this programme, (2) your past achievements in academic and professional activities relevant to the MSc programme, and (3) your data science experience to date and any future career plans to Prof Ruwanthi Kolamunnage-Dona (kdrr@liverpool.ac.uk).

Requierments

At least two scholarships covering the tuition fees for the MSc Health Data Science, up to a maximum amount of £10,850, are available for students starting the master's programme in the academic year 2023/24. For UK students, the tuition fees of £10,850 are being paid by the scholarship. For international students, tuition fees are partially being paid by the scholarship, to a maximum of £10,850. To be eligible for these scholarships, you must be awarded a place on the MSc Health Data Science programme at the University of Liverpool. You must hold, or be on track to obtain, at least a high 2:1 (65+%) in your undergraduate degree, including marks of 60+% in modules relevant to the MSc programme. Work experience relevant to Data Science (paid, internship, shadowing or voluntary positions) would be advantageous.
