About
The University of Hertfordshire (UH) is an institution with an exemplary reputation as the UK's leading business-facing university. Ranked in the Top 150 Young University rankings (The Times Higher Education rankings 2018), UH has a proud tradition of innovation, entrepreneurship and enterprise. It is one of only a few UK institutions to be awarded a European Commission HR Excellence in Research badge.
The Government's Teaching and Excellence Framework (TEF) awarded UH the top gold ranking in 2018, with a focus on work-based learning, employability and transferable skills. This was reflected by a rise in graduate employment rate to 96.5% in 2018, with the National Destination of Leavers from Higher Education (DLHE) survey placing UH as the best performing institution in the East of England region in this category.
UH now has over 24,600 students on UK-based programmes, including over 3,000 international students. They are mainly based across two sites located less than a kilometre apart in Hatfield. There are excellent transport links including shuttle buses and cycle lanes between the main campuses, plus Hatfield is just a 25-minute train journey from London's King's Cross station. The campus, which offers plenty of outdoor spaces and sports facilities, has been transformed in recent years by a GBP 120 million upgrade, including top-class new facilities for film and media, health and human sciences plus the Law School. New service facilities and student residences are due to open in 2020 with investment ongoing in what is an exciting time for UH.
