Design has a transformative effect on the world around us. This impact cuts across culture, business, the environment, and the economy. The course will give you an understanding of this impact and how you can shape it. Using an interdisciplinary approach, the course will enable you to approach design strategically and enhance your knowledge and understanding of design management, service design, enterprise and entrepreneurship. You will gain new perspectives on products and services, processes, new ways of working, managing innovation and stakeholders. By using design thinking and other design research methods to help understand and empathise with users, you will be able to make better informed business decisions, in marketing, organisational change and enhanced customer engagement. You will study in Dundee, a UNESCO City of Design, a city rich in design heritage. The city is also home to the V&A Dundee, the only design museum in Scotland and the first V&A outside of London. We’ve developed the course in parallel with the professional Design for Business programme at the V&A Dundee, and you will take part in interactive workshops and briefs with them. You will also have the opportunity to be a part of a highly engaged design community through the School’s excellence in design research, industry relationships and a highly connected creative culture in the city. Careers: You could go on to a successful career within: professional design design consultancy service design design-led, change-managers in private and public sector product & marketing management leadership and management roles in the private, public and voluntary sector management organisations business enterprises entrepreneurship and start-ups further academic/doctoral study.

Al-Maktoum College Hamdan Bin Rashid scholarship (January 2023)

Value of scholarship

The award is worth £7,500 and is paid in monthly instalments after you enrol onto your course.

How to applay

There is no separate application form for this scholarship as the University will review all offer holders who have received the Global Excellence scholarship. We may invite you to submit a personal statement to support our decision. For applicants starting their course in September 2023 - to be considered for the award, you must have an Unconditional offer before 31 July 2023

To be eligible for the scholarship, you must: Have either a conditional or unconditional offer to study: International Business and Islamic Finance MSc Islamic Banking and Finance MSc Islamic Banking, Finance and International Business MSc Islamic Finance MSc Be starting your course in September 2023 Have been awarded the University of Dundee Global Excellence Scholarship. In partnership with the University of Dundee, Al-Maktoum College Dundee is providing living support bursaries for applicants joining an MSc Islamic Finance course in the 2023/24 academic year. If you have already received the Al-Maktoum Living Support Bursary, you are not eligible to be considered for the Hamdan Bin Rashid award. There are 8 awards available 4 for September 2023 starts 4 for January 2024 starts The award is worth £6,000(10 x £600) and is paid monthly after you enrol on your course. The award is paid directly into your UK bank account and is not discounted from your tuition fee balance.

To be eligible, you must already have been awarded one of the University of Dundee Scholarships listed in the eligibility section. If you have not received one of these scholarships, then you are not eligible for the Al-Maktoum Living Support bursary. There is no separate application form for this bursary. Your eligibility will be assessed by our Admissions team, and we will notify you in writing if you are eligible to receive this bursary.
