This foundation year course gives you the support, knowledge and skills you need. On successful completion of the foundation year, you can progress to the Biological Sciences BSc (Hons). With an extra year of integrated study at foundation level, this course opens up opportunities in the sciences if you don't hold the required scientific A-levels or equivalent qualifications, want to change career or simply want to explore the options offered by university-level science before deciding on your specific pathway. The course is recognised by the Royal Society of Biology as providing the necessary skills for a career as a professional biologist. Our graduates have secured a variety of roles including laboratory science, forensics and scientific consultancy, education, biological research or further study. If you achieve the required standard in year 2, you can choose to progress directly to the third year of the Biological Sciences MSci and study towards a masters-level qualification.

For international students

Normally an honours degree, or equivalent qualification, in the subject specialism or a subject that is directly relevant; GCSE (minimum grade C or grade 4); at least English language and maths. In-house equivalence tests are available for suitable candidates. IELTS 7.0 in all elements.
