About
Queen Mary University of London (Queen Mary) is a world-leading institution based at five campuses across east and centralLondon. Our history dates back to 1785, with the founding of England’s first medical school at the Royal London Hospital. Our roots can also be traced to the establishment of the People’s Palace in Mile End in 1887, which was designed to bring educational and cultural opportunities to the East End.Students can study a wide variety of degrees under subjects such as humanities, social sciences, law, medicine and dentistry, and science and engineering.
The institution strives to provide students with the perfect learning environment and has invested GBP 105 million in new facilities over the past five years. From a redevelopment of the Engineering Building that introduces brand new, state-of-the-art robotics facilities, to the UK’s first new dental school in forty years, Queen Mary is constantly improving to offer students access to the latest technology in their respective fields.
With five campuses across east and central London, international students will have plenty of opportunity to explore one of the most famous cities in the world.
Queen Mary boasts a hugely diverse student population and is ranked in the top 25 institutions in the world for international outlook, with over 25,000 students from more than 162 different countries (Times Higher Education 2017).
The award-winning careers service on offer at the institution provides students with the opportunity to book one-to-one careers appointments with trained advisors, look through over 2,000 work experience opportunities and attend events to meet employers from all over the UK. This has led to Queen Mary being ranked 10th in the UK for graduate starting salaries by the Sunday Times Good University Guide.
Research at Queen Mary is world-leading, as academics at the peak of their careers work to influence areas such as cancer treatment and astronomy. In fact, Queen Mary was ranked fifth in the UK for the quality of research outputs (i.e. at 3* and 4* level) in the most recent REF2014 exercise and is even a member of the prestigious Russell Group.
