Engineering Management is concerned with the management of engineering within a business context. The problem solving of engineering is blended with planning, management and organisational elements of companies, taking projects from idea to delivery.Engineering companies involve complex chains of materials and supplies procurement, tiered suppliers, production processes and customer delivery, alongside the technical expertise of the different engineering disciplines.Business models and frameworks apply equally to engineering disciplines as well as other commercial sectors, with the management of legal and contractual requirements, and human resource commitments.Our IMechE and IET accredited BEng Engineering Management degree course provides graduates with an understanding of basic engineering sciences and manufacturing processes. This allows the students to develop a solid foundation of engineering and technology vocabulary and understanding.The material is partnered with a broad range of business strategy, business organisation, human management, resource management and project planning modules, which provide the graduates with the skills to manage across a range of engineering and technology disciplines. The priority is to interface and integrate these key activities with the business organisation and financial management of companies large and small, national and global.
