This course tackles a broad range of problems, from barriers to economic development to international financial crises. This programme will provide an excellent preparation for further academic study or a career in research, academia or, for example, in a central bank. The Department of Economics is regularly ranked number one outside of the USA for its published research in economics and econometrics and as an undergraduate student you will have the chance to learn from economists at the cutting edge of their field. Students are rarely admitted to the programme in the first year, as this is too early to be sure of commitment to a research career in economics. However a limited number of students successfully transfer to this programme from the BSc Economics in the third year (with the permission of the Undergraduate Tutor), in order to take part in the demanding and rewarding dissertation in quantitative economics. This degree provides an excellent preparation for a range of careers, but we particularly welcome students who want to learn about economics, rather than simply prepare themselves for a prosperous future.Almost all students on the BSc Econometrics and Mathematical Economics programme progress to do a graduate degree (often a PhD) and have careers in research and/or teaching in academia, central banks around the world, think tanks or government.

For international students

For GCSEs, youll need several GCSE grades at A (or 7) and A* (or 8-9). As a minimum, we ask for GCSE English Language and Mathematics grades at B (6) or higher. Well also consider your overall GCSE subject profile.A-levels: A*AA with an A* in Mathematics. We also consider your AS grades, if available.IB Diploma: 38 points overall. 766 in higher level subjects, with 7 in Mathematics.English language requirements:IELTS Academic (International English Language Testing Service): 7.0 overall and 7.0 in each componentTOEFL iBT (including Home and Paper Editions): 100 overall, with a minimum of (27 in Writing,25 in Reading, 24 in Listening, 24 in Speaking)

Grade A* at A Level Maths is required. Further Maths is desirable, either as a full A Level or a 4th AS Level.

Value of scholarship

Each scholarship has a value of £10,000 per year for three years of full-time study.

Requierments

LSE is delighted to confirm five new LSE Stelios Scholarships available for undergraduate offer holders starting their studies in the 2023/24 academic year. There are two scholarships available for UK students, two scholarships available for Greek students and one scholarship available for a Cypriot student. Those with an offer of admission to an undergraduate programme within the Departments of Economics, Finance or Management will be considered.
