The Bachelor of Arts (BA) at MacEwan University emphasizes both breadth and depth of study and has been designed for flexibility and customization. You can declare a primary major and a minor, or a primary major and a secondary major, or a primary major and two minors. Primary major Your major allows you to study a subject in great depth. It can lead you towards your career or to graduate studies in a specific area. We encourage you to explore several subject areas before you decide on your major. Secondary major or minor You explore a second subject in greater depth as a requirement of your degree. You have the option to complete a secondary major, a minor or two minors. Options Options allow you to customize your degree even further as you explore subjects that reflect your interests and career plans. Plan ahead so you have prerequisites for courses you want to take. You can choose your options from any of the disciplines offered by the Faculty of Arts and Science. You may include a limited number of courses from other faculties if you are not already taking an out-of-faculty minor. HONOURS Honours disciplines in the Bachelor of Arts provide you with the opportunity to pursue more intensive study in your chosen field; an Honours designation is particularly beneficial if you are considering graduate studies.

For international students

Applicants must have a minimum overall average of 65 percent, with no course grade lower than 50 percent, in the following high school courses:ELA 30-1Four subjects from Group A, B, C, or DApplicants must be Canadian applicants, 20 years of age or older, and have been out of full-time high school at least one year by the beginning of the intake term. Applicants must have the following:ELA 30-1 with a minimum grade of 65 percent (or equivalent)ORThree credits of university-level English, including ENGL 111 from MacEwan University, with a minimum grade of C.Applicants with nine to 23 university-level credits must also present a minimum Admission Grade Point Average (AGPA) of 2.0 on a 4.0 scale. Requierments

To be eligible for this award, students must: Be enrolled full-time in the Bachelor of Communication Studies or Bachelor of Arts at MacEwan University; Be in good academic standing; Demonstrate leadership skills through but not limited to, extra-curricular activities, community service or volunteerism at MacEwan or in the community. Disbursement Criteria For funds to be disbursed, successful applicants must be enrolled in a full-time course load and be in good academic standing.

MacEwan University traces its origins to the Grant MacEwan Community College established in 1971. In 2009, the institution became Alberta’s sixth university. MacEwan University has three faculties: Arts and Science, Health and Community Studies and Fine Arts and Communications. The University also has a School of Business and a School of Continuing Education.
