Study Environmental Science and develop solutions to environmental issues challenging a sustainable future. Environmental Science assesses the impact of human activity on the global environment and develops scientific, risk-based solutions to help secure a sustainable future. This major encompasses both the biological and the earth sciences. Environmental issues are many and varied so the use of an interdisciplinary approach to problem solving is essential. You'll develop techniques in scientific modelling to achieve practical solutions to these problems. Environmental scientists deal with issues such as climate change, carbon trading, greenhouse gas emissions, water resource management, salinity, land degradation and rehabilitation, flora and fauna, habitat destruction, deforestation, energy and mineral depletion, air and water pollution, soil erosion, and groundwater contamination. It is envisaged there will be up to three overnight field trips (there will be a cost of up to $500 per student to cover the cost of food and accommodation for around 10 nights). Career Pathways Environmental Science graduates possess a diverse set of skills across earth, biological and environmental processes and they understand the role of humans in landscapes. Environmental Science graduates work for the mining and resources sector (minerals, petroleum and groundwater) to manage environmental compliance, and state government agencies as well as non-government agencies to regulate and manage land and water resources in natural and agricultural landscapes as well as urban environments. Further Study An Honours in Environmental Science will prepare you with advanced training in areas of land and water management, climate science, biogeochemical processes, ecology and soil science related to natural and disturbed environments, enabling you to successfully complete a research project. The project consists usually of field work and will often involve industry partners. You will learn how to manage your time, interact with scientists and stakeholders and be trained to communicate with confidence in both written and oral form. Employment opportunities include roles within companies overseeing environmental compliance, being part of investigative teams assessing environmental impacts, within consulting companies, and within government agencies and departments managing natural, agricultural and urban environments, and being involved in regulating users of land and water resources.

English language requirements: IELTS (academic): Overall minimum score of 6.5, no band lower than 6.0 TOEFL Internet-based TOEFL (iBT): an overall score of 82 or above with a minimum score of 22 in writing, 18 in reading, 20 in speaking and 20 in listening Pearsons Test of English (PTE) (academic): An overall score of 64 with a minimum score of 59 in the speaking and writing sections, and no less than 54 in the other sections

Relevant study also a basis of Award All applicants need to be SUT members (AUD $30) The Society for Underwater Technology (SUT) will offer annual scholarship awards to either undergraduate and/or postgraduate students undertaking studies that embrace relevant component areas of marine science, underwater technology or offshore engineering. Applicants are welcome to apply where they can demonstrate a clear interest in pursuing a career in a relevant area of underwater technology. The SUT Education Support Fund will consider at least two scholarships for fulltime students entering the last two years of their undergraduate course, or undertaking a postgraduate course in the first half of 2020 The grants are open to any student studying in Australia, irrespective of age or nationality and previous winners may reapply

To be eligible to apply for a scholarship, an applicant must— (a) have completed at least 36 points towards an undergraduate degree course; or (b) be enrolled or eligible to enrol— (i) full-time unless the selection body is satisfied that there are exceptional circumstances1 which preclude full-time enrolment; (ii) in an undergraduate degree course with a major in Environmental Science, Conservation Biology, Marine Science or Geographical Sciences; and (iii) at the UWA Albany campus.
