The Bachelor of Science (Honours) program provides students with the opportunity to pursue an independent research project in an area of interest under the supervision of an academic staff member. Students will acquire skills which will enable them to work without close supervision in a research environment in industry or government, or to proceed to a research higher degree. Areas of study are Anatomy, Archaeological Science, Biochemistry, Bioinformatics, Biological Chemistry, Biomedical Science, Biophysics, Chemistry, Computational Biology, Computer Science, Developmental Biology, Drug Design and Development, Ecology, Entomology, Evolutionary Biology, Exploration Geophysics, Food Science and Nutrition, Food Science and Technology, Genetics, Genomics, Geographical Sciences, Geology, Immunology, Marine Biology, Mathematics, Microbiology, Molecular Cell Biology, Nanotechnology, Neuroscience, Parasitology, Pharmacology, Physics, Physiology, Plant Science, Psychology, Public Health, Statistics, Wildlife Biology, Zoology. Further study options Graduates of the Bachelor of Science (Honours) have the opportunity to progress into the following programs: Master of Philosophy Doctor of Philosophy

For international students

All fields of study (excluding Psychology)- Bachelor of Science (or equivalent), with: an overall GPA of 4, and a GPA of at least 4.5* for 8 units of courses at level 3 or higher relevant to the honours project, and have secured an honours project and supervisor, and satisfied any additional requirements set by the head of school. * GPA of at least 5 for the Mathematics, Physics, and Statistics fields of study. Psychology field of study- Bachelor of Science (or equivalent), with: a GPA of at least 5 for level 2 and 3 courses in the Psychology extended major, and satisfied any additional requirements set by the head of school. English Proficiency IELTS overall 6.5; reading 6; writing 6; speaking 6; listening 6. For other English Language Proficiency Tests and Scores approved for UQ TOEFL IBT - Overall 87, listening 19, reading 19, writing 21 and speaking 19. TOEFL PB - Overall 570, listening 54, reading 54, writing 59/5. Pearsons - Overall Score of 64 and 60 in all sub bands. BEP - A minimum overall grade of 4 plus a minimum grade of C in all macro skills. CES - Overall 176 and 169 in all sub bands. OET is not accepted.
