This dual four-year program allows you to combine the versatility and breadth of a science degree, with the in-depth knowledge of a biomedical science degree. This innovative program has been designed to provide you with advanced biomedical science knowledge and key practical skills in science required to address today's global challenges. In the science component of the dual, you will choose from an extensive range of 26 specialised majors. In the biomedical science component of the program, you will study the human body at the molecular, cellular and whole body levels, and the disciplines of biochemistry and cell biology, physiology, developmental biology, microbiology, pharmacology and neuroscience. You will also discover the latest in globally relevant biomedical research from leading scientists based at UQ's research institutes. Moreover, you will benefit from the best of both worlds by learning about the scientific process through activities ranging from experimental design and hands-on experiments to computer programming. Queensland Year 12 (or equivalent) General English subject (Units 3 & 4, C); Mathematical Methods (Units 3 & 4, C); and one of Biology, Chemistry or Physics (Units 3 & 4, C). English language requirements IELTS overall 6.5; reading 6; writing 6; speaking 6; listening 6. For other English Language Proficiency Tests and Scores approved for UQ TOEFL IBT - Overall 87, listening 19, reading 19, writing 21 and speaking 19. TOEFL PB - Overall 570, listening 54, reading 54, writing 59/5. Pearsons - Overall Score of 64 and 60 in all sub bands. BE - A minimum overall grade of 4 plus a minimum grade of C in all macro skills. CES - Overall 176 and 169 in all sub bands. OET is not accepted.

Alfred and Olivea Wynne Memorial Scholarship

Value of scholarship

Approximately AUD $3,000 on the recommendation of Academic Board, Senate will determine the number of scholarships awarded in any year

Requierments

The scholarships are open to financially disadvantaged students who either: are residents of Maryborough or surrounds (within a radius of 65km), or have family connections with that area (parents and grandparents, within the last 5 years). The scholarships shall be offered in the following order: to full-time undergraduate students to part-time internal undergraduate students to postgraduate internal students. Selection criteria The scholarships will be awarded on the basis of: the financial need of the student (and considering their family circumstances), and academic merit, taking into account the level of study of the student. Students in receipt of other scholarship assistance valued at AUD $8,000 or more in a year will not be eligible for an award.
