The Graduate Certificate of Strategic Studies is designed for students seeking to launch or advance their careers in national defence, international security, counterterrorism, strategic policy, foreign affairs, intelligence, and more. This program equips you with the analytical skills necessary to advance your professional career as you develop an understanding of the regional and global strategic and security challenges. Taught out of the Strategic and Defence Studies Centre at the Australian National University, this program combines the theoretical and practical expertise of leading academics and policy-makers to deliver a world-class strategic studies program.Learning OutcomesDevelop knowledge of and in strategic and defence studies; Undertake strategic and policy analysis and be able to critically analyse, reflect on and synthesise complex information relating to the conduct of strategy and military operations; Apply strategic concepts and knowledge to practical, contemporary problems using case studies from Australia, Asia and global environments; Express ideas and construct evidence-based arguments in both written and oral form.

For international students

Applicants must present one of the following: Bachelor or international equivalent with GPA 4/7 Graduate Diploma or international equivalent with a GPA 4/7 Graduate Certificate or international equivalent with a GPA 4/7 24 units of courses in a postgraduate program a GPA of 4/7 GRE General test, completed no more than 5 years before the time of application, with a minimum score of 155 for Verbal Reasoning, 155 for Quantitative Reasoning and 4.0 in Analytical Writing and a minimum of 3 years full-time equivalent work experience at ANZSCO Skill Level 1 in a field related to the program A minimum 5 years full-time equivalent work experience at ANZSCO Skill Level 1 in a field related to the program The GPA for a Bachelor program will be calculated from (i) a completed Bachelor degree using all grades and/or (ii) a completed Bachelor degree using all grades other than those from the last semester (or equivalent study period) of the Bachelor degree. The higher of the two calculations will be used as the basis for admission. English Language Requirements IELTS Academic and IELTS UKVI Academic [excluding One Skill Retake and IELTS Online] - Overall score of 6.5 overall with minimum 6.0 in each band. TOEFL iBT Paper Edition and TOEFL iBT [excluding Paper Edition and Home Edition] - Overall score of 80 (Reading - 20; Writing - 20; Listening - 18; Speaking - 18). Cambridge C1 Advanced - Overall score of 176 minimum 169 in each band. PTE Academic and PTE Academic UKVI [excluding PTE Academic Online] - Overall score of 64 minimum 55 in each band.
