Make the changes you want to see in the world. With the Bachelor of Global Studies, you’ll be able to analyze and break down global challenges and formulate innovative solutions. This course has been designed for students who want to apply their knowledge and lead social change. You will be able to expand your learning through one of four specializations: Cultural competence International Relations International Studies Human rights The overseas study will give you a more thorough understanding of current challenges facing the global community, and you will develop outstanding skills as a leader and communicator. This will place you in an exceptional position to pursue a career in fields such as politics and government, the environmental sector, international development, foreign affairs, international relations, trade, defense or with non-government organizations (NGOs). There's also the opportunity to take an internship in a professional working environment. The combination of academic and on-site learning will equip you with skills demanded in the rapidly shifting global environment, such as creativity, communication, cross-cultural collaboration, critical thinking and teamwork. The Bachelor of Global Studies will give you a rich understanding of the interplay of local, regional and global forces. It will equip you with sharp analytical abilities and the ability to communicate flexible, imaginative and well-informed disciplinary and interdisciplinary approaches. These together will enhance your capacity to lead social change. The course develops through two themes, which will provide you with interdisciplinary approaches to addressing the key challenges facing the global community and in-depth expertise in a specialized area of study to enable you to effect change. Leadership, culture and globalization You will compare and contrast a range of solutions in different historical, linguistic, cultural, and geographical settings, focusing especially on developing an understanding of effective leadership across a range of contexts to formulate practical and innovative approaches to global challenges. Global studies specialist knowledge These units will provide in-depth knowledge of the specific facet of global studies that comprises your specialization, providing you with the practical and theoretical skills and knowledge needed to critically analyze, communicate and apply your disciplinary knowledge. Free elective study Electives will enable you to further develop your knowledge in the area of global studies, or Arts more generally, or to select units from across the faculty or the University in which you are eligible to enroll.
